In a distinguished ceremony held at the Delhi Vidhan Sabha, Prof. Dr. M. Sreedhar, a native of Andhra Pradesh, received the prestigious “Pillars of the Nation Award-2023” from the Honourable Speaker, Mr. Ram Niwas Goel. This award recognizes Dr. Sreedhar’s remarkable contributions to society, particularly in the field of literature and social services in the North Eastern states.

Dr. M. Sreedhar’s journey to this remarkable achievement is nothing short of inspiring. After obtaining his doctorate in the United States in 1994, he served as a scientist for IBM R&D labs in New York, California, and Toronto, providing invaluable services to some of the world’s top 100 companies. In 2007, he returned to India and took on leadership roles in various projects for Quark Mohali/USA and GIL Hyderabad/USA. Eventually, he transitioned into academia, serving as a Director of R&D for institutions like LPU, BBD/Lucknow, and as a PVC for Biher Uni/Chennai. Dr. Sreedhar’s guidance to numerous PhD scholars, publication of articles, and authorship of books in various domains have left a lasting impact on the academic landscape.

One of his most significant contributions lies in the realm of literature, specifically in the North Eastern states. Dr. Sreedhar conducted extensive research, analyzing research papers and articles by more than 300 national and international scholars. He then translated this research into more understandable papers, fostering a clearer path for upcoming scholars. His notable works include:

  1. Exploring the Oral Traditions in Indigenous Languages in Meghalaya for Folklore and Storytelling.
  2. A Linguistic Analysis of Meghalaya’s Biodiversity: Exploring the Terminologies and Cultural Significance in Local Languages.
  3. A Comparative Study on The Influence of Western Literature on Meghalaya’s Literary Discourse.
  4. Exploring Identity and Cultural Expression in Meghalaya’s Poetry: A Comparative Study of Khasi and Garo Poets.

For his commendable social work in the field of literature, specifically for his work titled “Exploring the Oral Traditions in Indigenous Languages in Meghalaya for Folklore and Storytelling,” Dr. Sreedhar received the prestigious “Human Rights Noble Award” in the memory of Shri Rabindra Nath Tagore, presented by GHRT India on July 9th, 2023.

The accolades did not stop there. On August 14th, 2023, Dr. Sreedhar was honored with the “Letter of Appreciation. Awards (Regional languages/north, north eastern states)” for his work on “Exploring Identity and Cultural Expression in Meghalaya’s Poetry: A Comparative Study of Khasi and Garo Poets.” The “Pillars of the Nation Award-2023” was conferred upon him in a ceremony where Honourable Speaker Mr. Ram Niwas Goel praised Dr. Sreedhar’s unwavering commitment to the nation and society, emphasizing its significant role in the nation’s progress.

As India celebrated its 76th Independence Day and World Humanitarian Day on August 15th, 2023, Dr. Sreedhar’s research contribution on “Linguistic Analysis of Meghalaya’s Biodiversity: Exploring the Terminologies and Cultural Significance in Local Languages” earned him the “Innovator for Social Justice” award from the Founder and National President of I CAN Foundation, India. Distinguished guests at this event included Dr. Arun Agarwal, President of the International Marwari Federation, Executive President of FORTI, and Mr. Neeraj Arora, Assistant Secretary General of ASSOCHAN.

In recognition of his remarkable social work in the areas of language and literature, specifically for his work titled “A Comparative Study on The Influence of Western Literature on Meghalaya’s Literary Discourse,” Dr. M. Sreedhar was honored with the Most Prestigious International Buddha Peace Award and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Award. These awards were presented by His Excellency Dr. C.V. Anand Bose, the Honorable Governor of West Bengal. These honors not only immortalize the name of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar but also celebrate the social game changers who are actively shaping a better future for society. Dr. Sreedhar’s contributions stand as a testament to the power of literature and research in advancing society and fostering a better tomorrow.
