Security Forces in Kathua Fight Terrorists in Deadly Encounter: Four Policemen Killed
On March 28, 2025, a deadly encounter unfolded in Kathua, Jammu & Kashmir, where a joint operation between the Jammu & Kashmir Police and the Indian Army resulted in the killing of four police officers and three terrorists. The gunfight began in the early hours of the morning, when security forces acted on specific intelligence reports regarding the presence of militants in the area.
The operation was launched after security forces identified a group of terrorists believed to be affiliated with a Pakistani-based terror group. These militants were reported to have crossed the border into Jammu & Kashmir with the intention of carrying out disruptive activities. Upon being surrounded, the terrorists engaged in a violent standoff, leading to a high-intensity firefight.
The encounter, which lasted several hours, saw the terrorists using advanced weapons and taking strategic positions. Despite their best efforts, the security forces were unable to prevent casualties. Four policemen, all from an elite counter-terrorism unit, lost their lives in the operation. Following the operation, the bodies of the fallen policemen were transported to Jammu for funeral rites, where they were given full honors.
